A Full Face Of Makeup Dupes

Lifestyle and Beauty, Uncategorized

Welcome back to my blog!

Today I am testing the difference between my Highend makeup products and my more Affordable alternatives.

On the left hand side of my face is my more affordable “Dupes” vs the right hand side featuring my Highend, pricey favourites.

Left side: Affordable vs Right side: Highend

Primer

Firstly, starting off with my base I used the Mac Skin Base Visage and the alternative of NYX photo loving primer. Both work equally as well in my opinion, allowing a smooth base and blending in well to the skin. However the NYX primer prevents flashback better than the Mac one!

Foundation

This is the most important feature of the look, the picture shows the real difference of the two. The more affordable L’oréal Infallible is a little too dark for my skin tone, but it has a better coverage in comparison to the Mac studio fix. The studio fix feels lighter on my face even though L’oréal claims this foundation has a “weightless feel”, but the matte finish and full coverage makes it’s just as good.

Concealer

Benefit being one of my favourite brands you would have thought that it would have beat the affordable Maybelline concealer, but yet again affordable got my vote. The eraser eye is my new favourite concealer, it covers up dark circles and brightens.

Contouring and Bronzing
The two contour kits are different as one is cream and one is powder, but they both have the same finish. The Anastasia one blends out very easy and is smooth on the skin. However I prefer the shade range of the Nip and Fab pallete, it is easier to sculpt your face and bring the look together with the bronze shades.

Highlighting

The most crucial step to every look is the highlight, the Mary-Lou Manizer by The Balm is hyped about by almost everyone. However without using a damp brush or some fix plus, it does not show up well on my skin at all. The afforable alternative by Revolution is amazing, it’s pigmentation is incredible and staying power is just as good.

Eye shadow

This along with brows is my favourite step, here comparing two similar products. My Anastasia palette is my favourite makeup item ever, it’s pigmentation is out of this world and the shade range is just so beautiful. In comparison to the Morphe 350M which also has amazing pigmentation and the shade range is nice too, but the quality is not as high as the Modern renaissance palette.

Brows

In this look I used my all time favourite Anastasia Dip Brow and the alternative of NYX tame and frame, the shades are almost identical. However the Anastasia product is so much more thicker and creamier, making it easier to work with. In comparison the NYX product proved stiff and dried out very fast after opening it.

Finishing touches

The setting spray concludes the look and gives it the desired finish. The L’oréal spray I used left a white residue all over the afforable half of my face and felt very drying, I did not get on with it well. However my Urban Decay all nighter proved trusty once again and managed to set the makeup and leave a soft and improved looking finish.

Lips

Here I used a liquid lipstick vs a matte lipstick. My trusty Mac Velvet Teddy glides on the lips and has a lovely everyday nude colour, however it does not last very long. In comparison My Nip and Fab liquid lipstick stays on all day even after eating and drinking, whilst maintaining its colour well throughout the day.

Verdict : The Affordable side wins my overall vote, the quality is just as brilliant as the Highend products in most cases and it doesn’t break the bank!
